Contrary to many other software applications, mccPILOTLOG does not run any background process to check for new updates. mccPILOTLOG perform that check a few seconds after launching the application. This usually takes a fraction of a second.
The following reasons may cause this function to freeze :
- slow internet connection (hotel room, public area)
- download inhibited by firewall (e.g. Comodo) or anti-virus (typically Avast, Avira, AVG)
- No user rights to windows directory (restart with right-mouse click and Run as Administrator)
- Internet Explorer Security settings (add mccPILOTLOG.net to your trusted list, even if IE is not your default browser !)
The time-out for this update check is 60 seconds, during which period the software appears to freeze. We cannot modify this time-out, it is preset by MS Windows. After 60 seconds, the software comes back alive...
You can prevent the lock-out by switching-off internet (e.g. WIFI) during the first 10 seconds of the program start. After that time, the program does no longer search for any updates. You can manually verify for updates on the Tools - Update Software page.
